LOTS of extra-curricularsApr 14 2003Math
LOTS of extra-curriculars. Be involved in a variety of activities, but really commit your time to those. Also, APs and other challenging courses are good.

Tons of AP's, community service and extracurricular activitiesApr 14 2003Language - French/Spanish/etc.
Tons of AP's, community service and extracurricular activities. My act/sat scores were not that good but that did not seem to matter.
ACT: 27 Female
I went to a great high school, got mostlyApr 06 2003Political Science
I went to a great high school, got mostly all A's, got a 1510 on the SAT, volunteered, and wrote good entrance essays.

However, I didn't take any AP courses (my school didn't offer them), was hardly involved in many clubs at school, and I didn't play any sports.

Neither was I a freedom fighter in a small country, an incredibly successful entrepreneur at the age of 16, or the president of a nation-wide organization.

Despite this, they seemed to like me. I really have no idea of what they were looking for, but I suspect they don't care about extracurriculars as much as one would think.

Whatever.
SAT: 1510 Female

If you really want to go, write good essaysDec 24 2002English
If you really want to go, write good essays and make sure you have committed to one or two main activities in high school that will show your dedication. Unlike less competitve universities, William and Mary will hold it against you if you show dilletante-like qualities by having 20 extra-curriculars that only last a few months each time. That, and get good SAT scores.
SAT: 1350 Female
One of the biggest things WM looks at isDec 13 2002Chemistry
